My holiday

Last holiday was Eid Al fitr holiday. I visited my family and relatives. Then my family decided to go for a trip. On Monday I and my family went to Sharqia rrgion ( Ras Al had). We camped there.
We ate our dinner under the light of the moon than went for a walk. There was a guide helped and told us a bout turtels.
The funny thing happend to me when I lost my shoes under the sand on the beach. All the family searched with me but we didn't find it. Add fuel to the fire my family took me to see turtels in a far place. All eyes on me and laught at me and they refused to give me their shoes and let me walked for 15 minuts without shoes. I felling all in and cried because my feet pained me. When we returned to the camp my feet were swollen. I nspite of my suffering . But I enjoyed that day. Then we came back on Thursday.

Pandas are bears that live in China. There are very few pandas in the world . They eat a type of tall grass, called bamboo. Bamboo is not a very good food, so pandas must eat about 20 kg every day.

Many penguins live in cold countries in the south. They have wings, but they can't fly. They use their wings for swimming. They spend a lot of time in the sea, catching fish. They have a lot of fat under their skin. This keeps them warm in the cold sea.

Traditional Omani houses

In the past there were many different types of traditional houses in Oman. The people couldn't get concrete blocks or cement, so they used other materials to bulid their houses. For example, they used stones, mud bricks and plam branches to build the walls of their houses. They used grass , plam leaves and mud for the roofs. Of course, in the past there weren't any ACs, so people kept their houses cool in other ways.

The fastest fish

Sailfish are the fastest fish in the world. They are very strong and they can swim more than 100 km per hour. They are faster than cheetahs and cheetahs are the fastest animals on land.

Healthy living

A growing problem in Oman is fat school children. Twenty years ago in Oman there were vert few fat childern. But now many children go to restaurants with their friends and eat junk food such as burgers, fried chicken and sweet drinks. They don't walk much because they travel everywhere by car and some of them don't play any sports. They need exercise !

carpets

Making carpets is a very important handicraft in many Islamic countries. Perhaps the most famous country for carpets is Iran. In Iran carpets are made from wool, silk, animal hair and cotton. Many of these carpets have beautiful Islamic patterns and some of them have pictures of flowers and trees. The carpet makers use many different colours, but deep red and blue are very often seen.

Carpets are usually made by boys and girls who have small fingers and can tie small knots. It sometimes takes many months to make one carpet and so carpets are usually expensive.
